Straightforward plot
When you start a new game, OpenTTD generates a new map and you must use your skills to create a transport system around various resources. The map is displayed in 2D and you will have full control upon your company: the goal is to make as much profit as possible and crush your competitors.
Build your transport system
In OpenTTD you get to transport all sorts of goods by employing roads, a railway system, or airplanes. To get started you must start building your systems: build roads or railways between different cities, or construct airports so you can establish air routes.
The OpenTTD building tools are fairly intuitive and you get to easily create new elements on the map grid. However, keep in mind that efficiency is important if you want profits, so you must do your best to optimize the system.
Personalize your experience
In the OpenTTD Game Options window you can change the default currency, the town names pattern, the language, the way in which the road vehicles drive (on the right or on the left), the screen resolution, the base sounds set, and more.
Moreover, via the Advanced Settings panel you get to personalize many more details related to the game: you can make adjustments involving the interface (localization, display options, or interaction), construction, vehicles, stations, economy, or competitors.
