Hi, I got this e-mail from (Symantec@reply.digitalriver.com) and I asked people on here, and they said that that was definitely Symantec's legit e-mail. The message said that I could download Norton Internet Security 2010 for free (an upgrade)
The message said that I could download Norton Internet Security 2010 for free (an upgrade) 1. Does Norton actually offer this for free/Is this actually their e-mail? So I downloaded it and it said that I needed to restart my computer to allow it to begin protecting me, so I did. Get all the features of Norton Internet Security™ and more. So I downloaded it and it said that I needed to restart my computer to allow it to begin protecting me, so I did. It redirected me at a point of the download and it said I was at symantec.com My computer was unable to start properly and I had to restart it so that it was prior to when I downloaded the software (It is not on my computer anymore). Anyway, I got back on and all of Norton's protection settings were turned off; virus protection, anti spam, etc. Music also began to play even though I had no applications open (I may have just not seen any open). Also, it said that my computer was at risk, I downloaded updates and turned everything back on and it says it is safe now.
2. I am guessing that Norton 2010 had to disable Norton 2009 to allow it to work without interference, is this correct? If not, what the hell happened?
3. Like I said, after turning everything back on, it said that my computer was safe. Is this true?
Please, I get worried easily about these things.
Thank you
